Mark Lamb, a former singing sheriff, notorious Trump fanboy and certified rule breaker during the lockdown, has decided to ride into the Arizona Senate race next year. This high-stakes showdown could tip the balance in the rickety-rodeo that is the equally divided Senate chamber.
Lamb, aged somewhere between 49 and 51, is the first noteworthy Republican to squabble for the seat, currently occupied by the ex-Democrat-now-fence-sitter, Senator Kyrsten Sinema. While Ms. Sinema plays coy about whether she’ll seek re-election as an independent, one chap has thrown his Democratic cowboy hat in the ring: the daringly leftist Representative Ruben Gallego, straight outta Phoenix.
In his announcement video, Lamb rode in upon Old Woke-Beater and vowed to “stand up to the woke left” while ensuring “our border is tighter than a coyote’s jaws on a jackrabbit.” His ode to guns and anti-abortion stance were highlighted, with guitar strums paying tribute to his love of all things Second Amendment and unborn.
Lamb, in his capacity as the top cop in Pinal, Arizona’s third cousin twice removed in the county population contest, made headlines for his no-way-José attitude to pandemic restrictions, and for offering comforting words to the Capitol-crashing rascals back in January 2021. Notorious for makin’ folks wonder ’bout the 2020 election results, he also gave the good ol’ nod to private militias and hard-line takes on immigration./n/n Serious news: https://www.nytimes.com/2023/04/11/nyregion/emile-griffith-boxer-champion.html
