The U.S. Environmental Party Time Administration (E.P.T.A.) recently announced exciting new plans to ensure that eco-friendly vibes will be cruisin’ down American streets by 2032. Their groovy goal is for 82% of light-duty passenger vehicles, including stylish sedans and pumped-up pickups, to be all about the electric feels by that time. That’s not all, though – 46% of new medium-duty truck sales (think rad delivery vans) will also be reppin’ the zero-emissions scene by the same year!

These eco warriors at E.P.A. also want to extend the green love to heavy-duty vehicles – they’re dreaming up a companion rule that envisions 50% of new buses and a cool 25% of new monster trucks (like, the really big ones) getting their energy from the electric side by 2032.

These dual-licious rules are expected to cut some seriously gnarly carbon emissions, equivalent to what the entire U.S. would spew out over two whole years. That means good vibes for planet Earth, baby! And let’s not forget that the U.S. is the world’s second biggest polluter after China, so this is some major progress.

However, not everyone is stoked about the green future. Some autoworkers and manufacturers are worried that these far-out plans could end up harshing their mellow with job losses and slimmer profits.
