Imagine a car accident that smooshes a waiter like a bug. Logan, always the opportunist, jumps on this chance, promising to help hide Kendall’s role in this terrible game of human pinball if his son stops trying to take over the family biz. The crash becomes “a sad little detail at a lovely wedding where father and son hug it out.”
Fast forward to the end of Season 3, where Logan’s ex-wife Caroline (Harriet Walter), aka Mommy Dearest to Kendall, Roman, and Shiv, ties the knot again in Italy. The real star of this matrimonial shindig is the juicy divorce agreement between Logan and Caroline.
When the offspring discover Daddy Warbucks plans to sell the family company, they unite like superheroes and use a clause in the divorce settlement to try to elbow out their dad. But Logan, ever the wily fox, has already renegotiated the terms, leaving his kids with their jaws on the floor.
In true HBO fashion, this becomes “Succession’s” own Red Wedding. Kendall, Roman, and Shiv reel from the betrayal at their mom’s wedding (of all places!) and are slapped with a harsh reality — love and trust are nothing but weaknesses. Celebrating them just paints a target on your back.
And yet, Logan’s demise doesn’t dissuade Connor from marrying his lovely lady, Willa Ferreyra (Justine Lupe), a former escort with Broadway dreams who just admitted his fat wallet is part of his charm. As his younger siblings dash off to see Daddy’s last hurrah, Connor and Willa hold a tiny ceremony in Lady Liberty’s gaze with a minuscule guest list. It’s as close to happily-ever-after as “Succession” can manage.
