Well, it seems like there’s been a bit of a whoopsie in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. There was a shooting that rocked the whole town. No one knows who did it, so the authorities have asked for tips. Might want to check the local snitches for that one.
Don’t worry though, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has got it under control. According to Sgt. Jeremy Burkett, everything is safe, so we can all relax now. Nothing to see here, folks.
Sadly, a young man by the name of Dowdell was one of the people who died in the shooting. He had a football scholarship lined up at Jacksonville State University, so he was clearly going places. One of his coaches, Mardracus Russell, has stated that he was a great student and athlete. Russell also confirmed that Dowdell was attending his sister’s birthday party when the shooting started.
Fifteen people were taken to Lake Martin Community Hospital after the shooting. Nine of them were sent to other hospitals in the area because their condition was serious. Heidi Smith, the marketing director of Ivy Creek Healthcare, said that the whole town is in shock and that they’re providing counseling to the affected families and hospital staff.
Turns out, the party that the shooting took place at was a bit of a fiasco. According to Keenan Cooper, the DJ for the party, the mom of the 16-year-old whose party it was told everyone that someone had a gun and asked them to leave. No one listened, and then an hour later, there was a shooting. Cooper managed to grab six people and hide them under his DJ booth.
One young lady by the name of Shakaya Presley was shot twice through both of her thighs. Her father Bobby Presley got a frantic call from her at 10 p.m. the night of the shooting. He’s just grateful that she’s alive.
The superintendent of schools in the area, Raymond Porter, has said that counseling will be provided to students on Monday. So, you know, they don’t go shooting up the place too.
