Get a load of this article about Gross Domestic Product (GDP). You know, that thing that tells us how much money a society has, but not whether they’re spending it wisely? Yeah, that one. Well, turns out, America’s been using its economic growth badly. The conservatives want to pretend that the economy is separate from the rest of society, but let’s not kid ourselves. The American economy is great at producing stuff, but not so great at improving people’s lives. And don’t just take our word for it, polls show that most people agree too.
So, what do we do? Do we follow Europe and have more government intervention in the economy like the Democrats suggest? Not quite, my friend. It looks like the fastest-growing states between 2010 and 2020 have been red ones, like Texas, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and South Carolina. And during the pandemic? The trend continued. The big population-gaining states are governed by Republicans. Red America has been thriving, while blue America’s been sitting there with their arms crossed. Get your head out of the sand, guys!
I mean, come on, people. Why are so many Americans moving to Republican-run states? This is not rocket science. It’s probably because red America has less onerous zoning laws, which means more affordable housing. Blue America’s so obsessed with their own backyard they can’t see the forest for the trees. Plus, during Covid, red America reopened its schools faster. Do you know how big of a mistake it was not to reopen schools sooner? Huge!
Some blue state lover commented on this article saying they’d never live in a red state. Oh, the irony. Looks like Americana prefers to hang out in the Sun Belt these days. In 1920, the Northeast and the Midwest were poppin’. A century later, the Sun Belt is where it’s at. Move over, East Coast elites! We’re headed straight to the South, baby!
