Let’s talk about cakes. More specifically, let’s talk about the fact that the king and queen’s rescue dogs, Bluebell and Beth, are getting cakes named after them. I mean, they’re rescue dogs and they’re royalty – talk about living the dream!
Now, before you start picturing King Charles III and Queen Camilla chowing down on these cakes, let me tell you, they probably won’t. Apparently, they’re all about that organic fruit and veg life. Camilla loves herself some fish and salads – I can’t blame her, they’re delish. And Charles, well, he requires a selection of six honeys for breakfast. That’s right, six. And a special mix of muesli. The man knows what he wants.
But here’s the thing – can this green-minded couple convince an entire nation that worships Sunday roast, chips, and chicken tikka masala to switch over to their organic, locally-grown diet? That’s a tall order, my friends. But hey, if the Queen can convince a nation to wear hats to weddings, maybe anything is possible.
You know who had some serious influence in the kitchen? Jacqueline Kennedy, that’s who. She hired a young French chef from New York for the White House and ushered in a new era of dinner-party diplomacy. The Obamas planted a veggie garden and used it to promote local food and healthier school lunches. And then there’s Trump. Well, we all know how he rolls. He served a fast food buffet to a championship football team to prove a point or something. I don’t know, I try not to keep up with the guy.
Anyway, my point is, what we eat matters. And when the King and Queen are all about that organic, climate-friendly lifestyle, people start paying attention. Will the rest of Britain follow suit? Only time will tell. But in the meantime, Bluebell and Beth are getting some dang cute cakes named after them, so at least something good is coming out of all this.
