Nut fiction? More like nut hilarious! All these rumors about Bronny James going here and there, only for the coaches at Here U. and There State to say, “Um, no” has got me laughing my head off.
So, the latest rumor is that Bronny is headed to USC. But seriously, why would he want to go there? USC has Isaiah Collier coming in and Boogie Ellis coming back. They don’t need Bronny. Plus, Bronny thinks he’s a one-and-done player, which is absurd because he won’t play ahead of those two guys.
The messaging around Bronny’s recruiting has really messed things up. If LeBron and his crew had said they were looking for the best fit for Bronny, somewhere he could actually grow and develop, schools would have been happy to have him. Instead, they made it seem like he’s better than current NBA players, and coaches don’t want to play a kid who’ll only get a handful of minutes.
Honestly, I have no idea where he’s going. Do you?
Let’s talk about something else that’s got me itching with curiosity. We have so many transfers still looking for a home, and I can’t keep up! But, I’m most curious about who Caleb Love is going to join. He’s been talking to Maryland, Georgetown, Kansas, and Kentucky, and Michigan isn’t out of the running either. So what the heck is he going to do? Stay put and make Michigan an interesting team, go to Maryland and compete against Michigan, or maybe join Kentucky? I can’t wait to find out!
Let’s also talk about coaches and coaching hires. The best choice, no-brainer here, would be Rick Pitino at St. John’s. Of course, he comes with baggage and risk, but if St. John’s wants to be relevant again, this is the way to go. Pitino will make St. John’s better, and in turn, make the Big East better.
As for the worst, Ole Miss bringing in Chris Beard is questionable. Beard was charged with a crime, and he missed a game while going through a bond hearing in handcuffs and prison stripes. Ole Miss didn’t have to hire him, but I guess all they care about is how excited their supporters are.
Do you think we’re headed towards a Rise of the Blue Bloods in 2023-24? I do! That Champions Classic game between Duke and Michigan State is going to be insane! With all the players returning to college, college hoops is teeming with star power, and that’s good for everyone.
So, let’s ride towards the desert next spring and see what unfolds!
