Oh boy, the Fed’s making an announcement! It’s like waiting for your parents to tell you whether or not you’re getting grounded. And just like your parents, the Fed is a tough cookie to read. But hey, we can always count on their chair, Jerome H. Powell, to give us some clues during his news conference at 2:30 p.m.
Last time the Fed dropped some economic estimates on us, they were talking about raising interest rates to a range of 5 to 5.25 percent in 2023. Yikes, that’s quite a lot! But, the big question is whether they’re going to cool it down a bit, or keep pushing until the economy is fully deflated.
We’re all eagerly waiting for some action, but who knows what Mr. Powell will say during his news conference. Maybe he’ll hint at a break, but maybe he’ll keep his options open like a kid at an ice cream shop who can’t decide what flavor to choose.
