But hey, don’t just take my word for it. Uncle Sam wants to chip in too! Electric cars that are assembled in the United States currently qualify for a $7,500 federal tax credit. YEE-HAW! But beware, the rules surrounding these incentives are fixin’ to change come Tuesday. A portion of the components and minerals in the car’s battery will need to come from North America or countries with which the United States has a trade agreement.

So, all in all, if you’re in the market for a new ride and want to save a pretty penny and maybe even the planet, getting an electric car might be the cat’s meow.
